On MONDAY, DECEMBER 15th
Orlando’s City Council will have a crucial vote on the Plaza.
On the agenda is the Community Redevelopment Agency’s presentation to complete the first Downtown Orlando Movie Theater!
We are introducing a one-of-a-kind, entertainment concept within the Orlando/CentralFlorida Region…and a new destination for Downtown!
Please come and show your support!
2:00 MONDAY, DECEMBER 15th
Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 400 South Orange Avenue
The new Plaza Owner is committed to making this project a success, but needs your help to show City Council that a Downtown Movie Theater is good for business.
Projections for the Plaza Theater are that it will attract approximately 600,000 people to Downtown Orlando each year. The indirect spending and jobs which flow from these visitors is significant…over $12 million annually by one conservative estimate. This could result in the infusion of millions of dollars to other businesses in downtown Orlando and the surrounding community.
For more information, on this unique theater, please download the attachments below.
The Plaza Theater will help to further define the downtown area and connect people to the heart of this up and coming city. Please show your support.
2:00 MONDAY, DECEMBER 15th
Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 400 South Orange Avenue
We look forward to seeing you there.

The Orlando Sentinel Reports today that the developers/owners of the Plaza Theater plan to work with the City of Orlando to continue moving forward on a plan to finally open the theater. For those of you that have been following this since the plaza opened up back in 2007…it all sounds eerily similar to talks we’ve heard in the past.
According to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, the theater will bring needed prosperity to the Plaza and surrounding businesses. I think he’s right in saying that the economic development of this area (CBD) could get a boost from the theaters presence but the “Special Tax” is what concerns most. The plan says it will tax the parking garage and plaza businesses in order

If you’re looking for something to do this chilly Thursday morning, Good Morning America is holding a live taping this morning at Church Street Station.
The show will do half it’s taping inside the Cheyenne Saloon and the remainder from outside. The program airs at 7 a.m. weekdays on WFTV-Channel 9. Go out and have fun(halloween costumes are permitted)
Most would suggest parking a few blocks away off of Rosalind Ave or Church street south of Magnolia so you don’t have to worry about the traffic on the way out after the show. Dress warm, temperatures this morning are in the 50’s!

The Democratic Presidential Nominee and Former United States President will be in Kissimmee on Wednesday night (10/29/2008) at Osceola Heritage Park. The rally will be held later in the the evening and hopes to attract younger as well as hispanic voters.
Gates for the event open at 8:30pm, but Barack Obama and Bill Clinton won’t likely go on until 10:30 p.m. or 11 p.m.
Obama appeared with New York Senator Hillary Clinton last week at a rally in downtown Orlando that some sources report summed up close to 50,000 people.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will hold their Monday rally in Orlando at the Amway Arena downtown at 6pm. Gates for entrance will be open at 3pm. Due to it’s potentially large numbers, it will probably be an outdoor event.
Organizers chose the arena, in part, because it’s a location that is accustomed to handling the traffic that comes with big events. He and Clinton are expected to attract tens of thousands of supporters.

For many of us, it has been a long time coming. For a few, this is recent news.
The Publix located on the ground floor of The Paramount (17 E. Lake Avenue Orlando FL 32801)will be open for business this Saturday 9/6/08 at 8am. I have heard that there is basement parking for customers but have not been able to confirm this myself as of yet. Elevators will take you up and down from your car to the shopping floor. There will also be many prizes and giveaways for the ceremony.
I think this will be a great addition to the growing Orlando condo market and the Publix will gain a healthy following from local downtowners and businesses during the week.

According to local reports, there were some well known structural problems that are coming into play with the completion of the Paramount on Lake Eola.
The developer of the 16 Story, 300+ unit condo complex located just south of Lake Eola stated that it spent more than $16 million to add extra bracing to the building. The general contractor noticed cracks on concrete columns caused by insufficient rebar within the beams. The building received a certificate of occupancy after government inspection earlier this year.

In the past few months (almost years it seems) we have seen the likes of the proposed Plaza 12-screen movie theater follow the ups and downs of the overall real estate market. It was ready to go, then it wasn’t, then it was, and again…it wasn’t. Well I am here to report that it looks like there is life once again…maybe. LOL
That is if the $2.5 million and $3.5 million incentive package from the City of Orlando holds up. This is a loan that the city would provide and would be paid back with theater profits. Anyhow, I’m tired of writing so I’ll just link you to the article on the Orl Sentinel…Thanks.
